This is the customer journey on a paired Sephona kiosk. Staff can use it to help a guest, and operators can use it to check a store is ready.
Card details are never typed on the screen. Payment happens on the physical terminal next to the kiosk.
The order
- Splash. The branded idle screen. The guest taps anywhere to start. Copy is often Touch to Start under a video or image.
- Eat In or Take Away. The kiosk asks Where would you like to eat? with Eat In and Take Away.
- Menu. Categories across the top, products in a grid. The guest taps an item.
- Customise. Size, modifiers, and required extras. They tap Add to Cart. If the item is a meal, they may see Make it a meal.
- Alfred (optional). If Alfred is on for that device, a suggestion appears (for example a side or drink). They can Add to Cart or tap No, thanks. This is separate from Voice AI.
- Your Order. Quantities, edit, totals, surcharge if you set one. Checkout continues. Cancel Order clears the basket.
- Name and Pay. The guest enters their name (required) and taps Pay. Phone number is optional.
- Payment terminal. The screen shows Please Follow The Instructions / On the Payment Terminal. The guest uses the pin pad (contactless, chip and PIN, or a mobile wallet).
- Order Complete. They see Order Complete! and a QR code for a digital receipt. DONE returns the kiosk to the splash screen.
Voice AI
If Voice AI is on, a Hold to speak bar sits at the bottom while they browse and customise. It is hidden at checkout and on the payment terminal. Voice AI and Alfred are independent toggles on the device.
If something looks stuck
- Device Disconnected means the kiosk is unpaired. Re-pair from Devices → Add New Device. Do not treat this screen as the pairing code page.
- Inactivity returns the kiosk to the splash and clears the basket.
- If the kitchen never sees the order after a successful card payment, check the store POS integration and ask a manager to confirm the order.
